A hired Hearing Master. One of two Domestic Violence Commissioners handling Temporary Protective Orders (TPOs) in Courtroom 14. Has been in that position since 1998. Quoted in 1999 Sun article that protective orders "don't stop a bullet or knife, and we need to make sure everyone knows that." This quote has been widely reprinted on the internet in support of giving guns to woman (probably not her intention).

Judge Doninger (along with the other Domestic Violence Commissioner) is the closest thing to Judge Judy that you will find in the court system. Since the only issue is whether one person should stay away from another, the rules of evidence are relatively loose, and the judge has to sort things out based on gut instinct as much as anything. There's a lot of emotion in that thar courtroom! It is literally "He hit me!"... "But she hit me first!" The issue usually boils down to one person's word against another, but it is interesting how the truth comes out anyway. (It helps to have PSYCHIC POWERS, which Doninger is gifted with.) By the end of the hearing, you know who the bad guy is — and sometimes it is the person who tried to get the TPO.

Doninger is the anti-Cupid. Instead of shooting arrows of love, she is trying to extract them.

“Patricia Doninger took off a TPO off two brothers who murdered their father and then the next day attempted to murder their younger sister. The brothers succeeded to beat their younger sister to a bloody black and blue pulp with black eyes. Pictures were taken of the victim at family court by the victim advocate and shown to Judge Patricia Doninger along with the TPO. Patricia Doninger is a bad judge. She does not belong on the judges stand.” — a concerned citizen 5/14/08 ...
