The Nevada parole office is responsible for the management of youth who are being released to the community after being "remanded to the state" and spending time at one of the state detention facilities (Elko, Caliente, Summit View). (By contrast, the county probation department manages youth who have not been remanded to the state, including those who have been to the Spring Mountain Youth Camp.)

Parole officers are among the rare government employees regularly seen in Family Court who are not employed or funded by the county.
