“the staff of rop are cruel, especially the concerns staff, they restrain for no reason and with every intention of harming students. intimadation and degradation are key things that they staff use on student athletes in the program to recieve compliancy. rop is not safe for anyones children” — a liberated student athlete 7/29/07

“i was a student at rop for a little over 12 months and consider it with a mixture of hate,fear, and sorrow for those that are currently there.there is no concern of the childrens well being, who are constantly submitted to things i still have nightmares about. Concerns program, run by unit manager jason temian,wich is a discipliniary placement, is used to inflict both physical and mental injury upon unliked students. it is a badge of pride umongst staff to gloat about the numbers and the ways they have restrained students whos only wrongdoings were too somehow annoy the staff, or simply to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. i personally witnessed one student, who could not excersice for medical reasons, being restrained simply because he couldn't & wouldnt excersise because to if a student breaks a medical profile he will be given grave conseqeunces for so called(self mutilation.) wich also will earn you a restraint in concerns. Concerns staff restrained this student athlete whos last name was Starr out of lassen county if im not mistaken, and who was compliant and not physical or violent in any way so hard the blood vessels in his eyes exploded.no ones children are safe in that type of environment around the malicios people they have working there!!!!!” — a self liberated student athlete 7/30/07

“My Son is a trying to become a survivor of this place. I believe the other "Student Athlete" comment about nightmares. My son still has them and still has not told me all the abuse he suffered while at ROP. If you report anything the retaliation is so obvois you wish to God you kept your mouth shut. I am praying for the house bill reform on boot camp program to include ROP and pass. These kids are troubled teens and abuse is not the way to "treat" the problem. I am just hoping and praying that the things he had to endure there do not haunt him the rest of his life. If there is a judge or case worker reading this site. “I WAS A STUDENT ATHLETE AT ROP IN THE EARLY 90 S IT IT WAS TOUGH TO SAY THE LEAST. I GOT VERY SICK AND I COULD NOT PERFORM THE EXERCISES . THEY JUST IGNORED ME. AS I GOT WORSE THEIR NURSE WHO WAS THERE CAME TO MY BED AND LISTED TO MY LUNGS AND SAID THEY WERE FINE. THEY FINALLY DECIDED TO TAKE ME TO THE HOSPITAL TO HAVE ME CHECKED OUT. WHEN I WAS AT THE HOSPITAL TAKEING AN X RAY I COULD HARDLY STAND UP AND THE COACH WAS YELLING AT ME TO QUIT SCREWING AROUND. LUCKILY THE NURSE WAS NICE AND SHE HELPED ME. WHEN THE DOCTOR LOOKED AT MY X RAYS AND LISTENED TO MY LONGS I WAS ADMITTED RIGHT AWAY WITH WHAT HE CALLED THE WORST CASE OF PNUEMONIA HE HAD EVER SEEN. THE DOCTOR SAID I WAS LUCKY I HAD NOT DIED. THE COACHES DO NOT LISTEN TO THE STUDENTS THEY ARE JUST PUTTING IN THEIR TIME FOR THEIR PAYCHECK. I HAD SEEN MANY STUDENTS HARRASSED AND HUMILIATED JUST FOR THE COACHES AMUSEMENT. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. JUST ONE MORE THING TO LET YOU KNOW HOW THEY ARE. ON MY FIRST WEEK IN THE DESSERT ONE COACH WHO I HAD NOT MET YET WALKED UP TO MY CHAIR AND KICKED THE BACK OF IT EXTREMELY HARD AND ASKED WHAT MY NAME IS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS PLACE. I HAD EVEN OVER HEARD THE STAFF WORRYING ABOUT MY FATHER BRING FORTH A LAWSUIT AND ONE STAFF MEMBER REPLIED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE TO WORRY THAT MY DAD WAS A LOSER BECAUSE WE DID NOT HAVE A LOT OF MONEY.
