Voy was appointed to the court on 4/30/98 to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Judge Terrance Marren (article), and has been reelected since then (1998, 2004; next 2010). Prior to his appointment, Voy was an attorney in Nevada for nine years. Graduate of Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore., and Willamette University School of Law.

A Note to Attorneys: Off-duty, Judge Voy is a big sports nut, so defense counsel would be well advised to use sports imagery in their closing arguments. On the other hand, you don't want to use the name of the wrong team in your metaphors, as this could jinx the deal.
