The definition of "wraparound" seems vague, but it apparently refers to a comprehensive in-home service to address all of a family's needs, not just the problem that brought them to the government's attention. There are wraparound services in dependency (example: WIN), delinquency (example: YAP) and mental health.

As we understand it, wraparound implies that the child or troubled family member remains in their home, rather than being removed. A wraparound worker goes into the home and assesses all of the family's needs, then tries to address their unique problems, which might might fall through the cracks with other agencies. Wraparound programs can address a much wider range of issues than traditional services. For example, if the family's need is stable housing, the wraparound worker can help them connect with it. Similarly, a wraparound provider doesn't provide mental health treatment, but they might help with transportation so a family member can get to treatment.

We found this less-than-helpful definition on the web (sourceExternal Link - Will open in new window).
