The Nevada branch of a national non-profit organization, providing an intensive supervision program for youths on probation. General description of program. The program is seen as an alternative to more restrictive forms of sentencing, such as youth camp or group homes—an intensive form of probation. A youth who is "sentenced" to YAP remains in his home and retains a county probation officer. YAP employs its own advocates, who visit the youth more often than his probation officer does and who are concerned with addressing a broader range of issues.

Unlike a similar program, ROP, YAP has a "no eject, no reject" policy, where they try to work with the child an his family regardless of his behavior. (However, probation can still be revoked by the county probation officer.

YAP began its program in Clark County in September 2006: NewsletterExternal Link - Will open in new window.
